Who We Are

Jamie Hermann
Founder & President
Hi, I’m Jamie, the owner and president of Pink Paw Animal Rescue. For as long as I can remember, animals have been my whole heart. Even as a kid I was the one sneaking food to strays, comforting a hurt bird, or begging my parents to help any animal in need. I have always felt that animals are pure souls who deserve love and protection, and it broke my heart to see how many go without a voice.
Pink Paw was born out of that ache in my chest and the need to do something, to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Every single animal we take in is a life that matters, a spirit that deserves a chance to feel safe, cherished, and valued.
At home I am surrounded by the very creatures who inspire me every day. I share my life with eight dogs and seven cats, each with their own quirks and stories, and they remind me constantly why this work is so important. None of this would be possible without my amazing husband Robbie, who stands by me in every decision, cheers me on through the hard days, and supports this dream in every way.
When I am not busy with the rescue I love to get lost in a good book or unwind with a video game for a little while. Even then my mind always drifts back to the animals, to the ones we have saved and the ones still waiting.
This rescue is not just a project to me, it is my purpose. It is the thing that makes my heart swell with pride and ache with every loss. Pink Paw is proof that love can change everything, and every day I get to be part of that change is the greatest gift I could ask for.
Madeline D'Hondt
Vice President & Secretary
My name is Madeline, but go by Maddie, Mad, Mads, or Maddlebugs in the rescue. I am a lifelong animal lover and proud foster and human mama. I honestly can’t remember a time growing up when I didn’t have a dog by my side. I was a classic horse girl, always dreaming of having a farm filled with every animal imaginable. While that dream farm is still in progress, I took the first big step in 2023 by opening my home to fosters — and since then, I’ve had the joy and honor of caring for over 50 animals.
Pink Paw Rescue was born out of love and loss.
We lost our family dog, Rosie, and her passing changed me in ways I never expected. Her absence left a hole in my heart, but it also sparked a deep clarity — this is what I want to do with my life. I want to speak for the voiceless, love the forgotten, and fight for every single one who deserves a second chance.
At home, I’m surrounded by my greatest joys: my two daughters, my high school sweetheart and best friend Jordan, two quirky cats, and our rescue pup, Ozzy. When I’m not busy with the rescue, you’ll find me rewatching comfort shows, playing video games with Jordan, or outside playing with our girls.
Like Jamie, this rescue isn’t a project — it’s part of who I am. It’s how I honor Rosie. It’s how I cope with the grief of losing her. And it’s how I make sure her legacy lives on. Every animal we save is a tribute to her. For those we can’t save, we love them fiercely until it’s their time to join Rosie across the rainbow bridge.

Kila Judd
Treasurer
Hi! I'm Kila! the Treasurer of the Pink Paw Project, where I’m proud to help animals of all species find their fur-ever homes. I believe every animal deserves a loving family, and that belief drives my passion for our mission every day.
Outside of my work with Pink Paw, I’m currently studying to become a radiologic technologist at the University of Anchorage. When I’m not hitting the books, you’ll probably find me outdoors. I love camping, fishing, and hunting.
I share my life with my wonderful and supportive fiancé, Justin, our sweet dachshund Stella, and our two cats, Fuzz and Tito. Our little family means the world to me, and it’s a big part of why I’m so committed to helping other animals find their own fur-ever homes.
Alyssa Hanson
Director
Hi! I’m Alyssa, the Director of The Pink Paw Animal Rescue. Born and raised right here in the interior of Alaska, I’ve always had a deep love for animals. While I currently don’t have any pets of my own due to my living situation, I grew up surrounded by beloved family pets and now spend much of my time pet sitting for others.
If you adopt through Pink Paw, I offer discounted pet sitting services (based on availability), because I know how tough it can be to travel when you’re a dedicated pet parent—I’m always happy to help when I can!
In my spare time, I love spending time with friends and family, coloring, reading, and obsessing over my favorite artist, Johnny Orlando. (Seriously—I call myself a walking fan page, and have been a fan for almost a decade!)
Being part of The Pink Paw Animal Rescue means the world to me. Every fur-baby deserves a safe, loving home, and while I may not be able to foster, I’m proud to give my time, energy, and heart to every animal that comes through our rescue.
